Freedom 250 expands "America Prays" initiative at NRB convention

Calling Americans of All Faiths to Pray Ahead of the 250th Anniversary

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Last week, at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention, Freedom 250 announced the expansion of "America Prays," a national invitation for Americans of all faiths to pray for our nation and our people in the weeks leading up to the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation on July 4th. Freedom 250 is aiming to have one million people join this invitation to pray for our country.

"From the earliest days of our national story, reflection and thanksgiving have been central to our character, identity, and destiny," said President Trump in his recent "Year of Celebration and Rededication" Proclamation. "Just weeks before declaring independence, the Second Continental Congress ordered a day of 'fasting, humiliation and prayer,' petitioning God 'to pardon all our manifold sins and transgressions' and to 'establish the peace and freedom of America, upon a solid and lasting foundation.' Later, in the heart of the Revolutionary War, the Second Continental Congress declared it 'the indispensable duty of all men to adore the superintending providence of Almighty God.'"

Last fall, President Trump launched America Prays at the Bible Museum. More than 70 organizations joined the initiative at its founding, including the Southern Baptist Convention, Focus on the Family, Intercessors for America, Salem Media, Pray.com, and Hallow. Freedom 250 recently launched Americaprays.com, providing a dedicated platform where individuals and faith organizations can sign up to be part of this powerful national movement.

Dozens of additional faith organizations have joined, including the Assemblies of God, Coalition for Jewish Values, Grand Canyon University, CityServe International, Love Has No Limits, Teen Challenge USA, Seventh Day Adventist, and Concerned Women for America.

As part of America Prays, Freedom 250 will host a landmark national faith event this Spring. Rededicate 250: A nationwide celebration of Prayer, Praise and Thanksgiving will take place on the National Mall on Sunday, May, 17 - exactly 250 years to the day the Second Continental Congress proclaimed a day of "fasting, humiliation, and prayer" calling upon God's guidance as the founders prepared for the American Revolution.
